I began my career with a commercial developer in Atlanta as a Project Manager. Once the contract was signed I met with the clients continuously; from meeting with the architect to coordinating their move-in and completing their punch out. I ensured that every step went smoothly with good communication and integrity. Most clients would then ask me to assist them with their homes. It was a great experience. I began researching the remodeling field and discovered that a degree of professionalism was missing. There was lack of communication between most builders and homeowners. Many contracts were lacking in the details pertaining to the scope of work, this oversight often lead to problems and frustrations for the homeowner. I wanted to apply the professional standards of commercial development to the private homeowner's remodel. I became involved in the local Home Builder's Association to develop standards for contracts, budgets and other forms to help remedy the problems. I actually started in residential via settling disputes between Owners and Contractors which led me to start my own company in 1994. HP Construction, Inc. conducted tenant build outs, commercial remodels as well as residential construction.

Growing up in Atlanta I was accustomed to working with older homes and my dedication to details helped to insure that the addition or remodel worked well architecturally as well as functionally for the client. In 2001, I moved to Jacksonville Florida and started a partnership with a custom home builder that had been at the beaches for 19 year. At the time, they only built custom homes in the 4K to 10K SF range. I remember our first meeting, inquiring to the number of calls he receives for remodeling. He looked on his desk and produced a list of seven calls from that week alone. He was reluctant to take on such "small" projects in comparison to his custom home business. I convinced him of the niche for professional remodeling and we set up a partnership. In two years completed over a million dollars of remodeling. In 2003, I set out on my own, forming Artisan, which means "To assemble using skilled craftsmen". Our greatest reward is a referral from a past client. I carefully limit the number of projects at a time, in different phases of construction which allow me to dedicate the proper amount of time to each project.
